Google Merchant Center
Monitor product feed health, resolve disapprovals, track diagnostics, and analyze price competitiveness.
Overview
The Google Merchant Center integration connects your product feed data to Claude Code through Presso, giving you instant visibility into feed health, product approval status, diagnostics, and price competitiveness — all through natural language queries.
Instead of clicking through the Merchant Center UI to find disapproved products or feed errors, ask Claude Code "Which products are disapproved and why?" and get a prioritized list with resolution steps.

Key concepts
Product status lifecycle
Every product in your feed goes through a review process:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Active | Product is approved and showing in Shopping results |
| Pending | Product is under review by Google |
| Disapproved | Product violates a policy or has data quality issues — not showing |
| Expiring | Product will expire soon if the feed is not refreshed |
Issue severity levels
Merchant Center issues are categorized by severity:
| Severity | Impact |
|---|---|
| Error | Product is disapproved — not eligible to serve |
| Warning | Product is approved but may have reduced performance |
| Info | Suggestion for improvement — no immediate impact |

Daily feed check
Start each day with a quick health check:

Weekly feed audit
Run a comprehensive review weekly:
Give me a full feed audit: total products, approval rate, top issues by frequency, and any account-level warnings.
Pre-campaign launch
Before launching a Shopping campaign, verify your feed is clean:
Are all products in my "Summer Sale" custom label approved and active? Flag any that need attention.
Tips and best practices
- Fix errors first, then warnings. Errors block products from serving entirely, while warnings reduce performance. Prioritize errors for maximum impact.
- Monitor your approval rate. A healthy feed typically has 95%+ approval rate. If you drop below this, investigate systematically.
- Check price competitiveness regularly. Understanding where you stand versus competitors helps you adjust pricing strategy for Shopping ads.
- Use the feed audit as a pre-flight check. Before increasing ad spend on Shopping campaigns, make sure your feed is in good shape to avoid wasting budget on disapproved products.
- Cross-reference with Google Ads. Combine Merchant Center data with Google Ads performance to understand which product issues are costing you the most in lost revenue.
Limitations
- Presso provides read-only access to Merchant Center data. To fix feed issues, you'll need to update your product data in your feed source (Shopify, WooCommerce, or your feed management tool).
- Price competitiveness data availability depends on your product category and market.
- Some diagnostics and reporting features may not be available for sub-accounts in multi-client (MCA) configurations.
